Opera Schmopera combines relevant, often funny stories with opera and contemporary music to create professional performances and empowering creative processes for young people. Led by artistic director Omar Shahryar, the company involves young people in making opera, builds creative skills, connects participants with creative communities, and advocates for best practice in opera education. A Shoe Full of Stars, co-produced with Gestalt Arts, is an award-winning comedy opera exploring teenagers’ responses to terrorism.
