About this production
Embrace the deep, resonant echo of the past brought into the present day. Tvillinglyrene (The Twin Lyres) is a spellbinding performance where voice, traditional dance, and the hauntingly beautiful sounds of the kravik lyre (one of Europe’s oldest string instruments) merge into a single artistic world. Based on a poetic legend, it tells the story of two twin lyres carved from the same tree but separated by conflict, using music and movement to search for one another. Traditional Norwegian ballads and contemporary compositions intertwine with powerful halling-inspired choreography, bridging historical roots with a modern stage language. This mostly non-verbal performance creates a calm, immersive space that invites audiences into a deep reflection on loss, identity, and the power of music to reconnect what has been broken.
Brought to life by musician Martin Steinum Brun and dancer Silje Onstad Hålien, this evocative universe is co-produced by Ragnhild Tveitan (DKS Buskerud) and Ann-Cathrin Tessnes (DKS Akershus).
