Upside-Down Mice and Cats

Prepare for a whimsical world where logic is flipped on its head and imagination runs wild. Based on a beloved classic of Croatian children’s literature, Upside-Down Mice and Cats is a vibrant music-theatre production that transforms witty poetry into a theatrical adventure. At 88 years old, legendary composer Dubravko Detoni delivers a vivid chamber score bursting with humour, virtuosity, and playful interactions. On stage, an intimate ensemble of a narrator, violinist, clarinetist, and pianist seamlessly morph between musicians and theatrical characters. Through storytelling, laughter, and brilliant live instruments, children are invited to actively engage with contemporary classical music, exploring universal themes of friendship, play, and creativity. Initiated by creative producer Marin Kaporelo and commissioned by Osor Musical Evenings, this highly mobile production has captured hearts nationwide through a major tour by the Croatian Association of Music Presenters (HUGO), bringing exceptional art directly to diverse local communities.
